The Ministry of Education and Training has decided to give new text and reference books to secondary schools in six recently flooded central provinces.

The schools hit by floods and to receive this assistance include 43 in Nghe An, 37 in Ha Tinh, 35 in Quang Binh, 20 in Quang Nam, 21 in Quang Ngai and 13 in Phu Yen provinces.
These schools will get a total of 45,000 books, including 500 reference titles this year, according to the ministry.
In the historic flood of October, this year, damages in the provinces of Ha Tinh, Quang Binh and Nghe An amounted to VND705 billion (USD35.25 million). As many as 383,000 sets of books, worth VND27 billion (USD1.35 million) were swept away with the waters.
Ha Tinh was hardest-hit with VND405 billion (USD20.25 million) in damages, followed by Quang Binh at VND212 billion (USD10.6 million) and Nghe An at VND88 billion (USD4.4 million).
The Ministry of Education and Training made a call to domestic and international donors to help in supplying these schools with new books.
