More than 300 kilograms of ivory were seized at Noi Bai Airport.
According to customs declaration, the shipment, transported on an Etihad Airways plane from Lagos, Nigeria, belongs to Gia Huy Services and Trade Company headquartered in Hanoi.
The customs department and relevant authorities have taken a sample of the shipment for further examination.Deputy Prime Minister Truong Hoa Binh on October 2 praised the customs department for discovering the illegal trade and urged law enforcement agencies to strictly punish those violating wildlife trafficking laws.
Earlier in April, the General Department of Customs also detected a case in which 105 kilograms of ivory was transported from abroad to Vietnam via Noi Bai Airport.
