Deputy Minister of Defence Vu Hai San has said army medics have assisted treatment of around 199,000 home-bound Covid-19 patients in HCM City and its neighbouring localities, including 57,300 being given the all-clear from the virus.

San added that medics had set up 660 mobile medical groups. The Ministry of Defence has sent 4,600 staff and medical equipment to the southern region, including 30 ambulances, eight ventilators, and two mobile Covid-19 testing vehicles.
The defence ministry has built nine Covid-19 field hospitals and set up an intensive Covid-19 treatment centre at Military Hospital 175. These hospitals have provided treatment for 13,000 Covid-19 patients. Currently, 3,600 patients are still staying there.
Military mobile medical groups have tested Covid-19 for 1.1 million people, detecting 42,000 positive cases. They have also helped HCM City’s Covid-19 vaccination.
The ministry has also helped in Hanoi’s Covid-19 testing and vaccination work.
Military forces have co-operated with localities to tighten control over Covid-19 check-points in border areas and set up quarantine sites for migrants.
