Deputy Prime Minister Le Van Thanh inspected the first phase of the Long Thanh International Airport project on Wednesday.

Vo Tan Duc, vice chairman of the Dong Nai People’s Committee, said that around 2,184 hectares of 2,532 hectares has been handed over for the project’s first phase, equal to over 86 percent. The remaining land of 347.28 hectares would be secured in May.
Around 1,200 households need to be relocated for the project’s first phase. To date, around 500 households have been compensated.
Deputy Prime Minister Le Van Thanh asked Dong Nai to hand over the remaining land of 2,816 hectares for the airport project’s second phase before June 30.
According to the deputy PM, the airport, which is among the national key projects, has to be put into operation in 2025.
Thanh also instructed Dong Nai and the Ministry of Transport to not delay the building of roads connected to the airport and to expand the HCM City-Long Thanh-Dau Giay Expressway.
Covering a total area of more than 5,580 hectares, the airport would be located in six communes in Long Thanh District. The airport’s total investment is VND336.63 trillion (USD14.47 billion).
