Dieu Khuy Nich uses hands to move around
Thi Xuan, Nich's mother, said, "When I was pregnant, doctors already said that my baby was deformed but I still decided to give birth to him. The hardest time is when he learned to walk. When he asked me why he didn't have legs like other people, I could only cry."
Nich then started learning to walk to the point that his hands bled. Because of his determination and effort, he was able to move around with his hands half a year later. Xuan said Nich cried with happiness when he successfully moved on his own. However, his hands are now filled with scars.
Despite his disability, Nich and his family always have an optimistic attitude which positively affects other people's views about them too. Doan Thi Giang, Nich's homeroom teacher also praised him for his energy and hard work.
Nich said he had dreamt of having artificial legs to play with friends. Unfortunately, all of the money was gone after his father fell ill and died last year.
"My husband was bed-bound for six months. I already sold my cashew garden for VND60m (USD2,600)," Xuan said.
