Vu Thanh Dat, 7, from Tan Yen District’s Cao Xa Commune’s parents both suffer from problems. Dat’s father has been blind since birth, while his mother Vu Thi Tho is facing osteogenesis Imperfecta.

"Dat seemed like a miracle to us. During the pregnancy, I had to sit on a wheelchair due to osteogenesis Imperfecta”, Tho said.
According to Tho, she was born as normal as other children, but at the age of four, she suffered from fractures. She was diagnosed with osteogenesis Imperfecta. So, she was as tall as a five-year-old child despite being 20 years old. After that, she worked as a lottery seller to earn a living.
Tho then fell in love with Y Bum Mlo from E De ethnic minority group who is blind and worked at a massage facility. They then got married. After giving birth to their son, the couple lived by selling lottery tickets on HCM City streets.
The family is in dire need of support
However, during the time of the Covid-19 outbreak in the city, the couple had to stay at home and depended on support from local authorities and charity groups. The family even had to live on the streets as they could not afford rent.
They had to return to Tho's hometown in Bac Giang to live with her parents who are also very poor.
