After a near-accident involving a Federal Express Aircraft nearly landing on top of a car at Hanoi's Noi Bai International Airport, two air traffic controllers have had their licenses revoked.

In addition, the Northern Airport Authority (NAA) also revoked licenses of relevant staff from the Technical Service Company under the Northern Airports Corporation.

As part of the report submitted to Ministry of Construction, the Civil Aviation Administration of Vietnam cited that this serious incident threatened safety of the aviation industry. The operation team violated regulations of flight operations.

It also pointed out that the operation team did not pay attention to their duty, did not obey regulated processes, did not focus on controlling information and that expertise of air traffic controllers was weak.

On March 23, the Federal Express Aircraft carried out landing procedures at Noi Bai International Airport. After receiving information from the pilot when the plane flew 10km away from the airport, the air traffic controllers announced that there was no obstacle on the track and the plane was allowed to land.

However, when the plane was going to land, the pilot found out a car and some workers were on the runaway, narrowly avoiding an accident.
