The operation of Ma Lu Thang Border Gate has resumed following a long suspension due to China’s zero-Covid policy.

Bananas are often transported to the market by motorbike to be sold to traders.

Each motorbike carries around 4-10 bunches of bananas.

Tan Thi Lan from Mo Si Cau Village sold bananas at VND5,000 per kilo.

Nguyen Lan and Vang Ngan Pi from Hoang Then Village said that their banana bunches were sold very well.

Pi said that his family has 500 banana trees, giving them an annual income of around VND70-80 million. This year, each kilo of banana is priced between VND5,000-8,000. He hoped that banana prices would be higher as Lunar New Year is nearing.

Since late July, Hoang Thi Van from Phong Tho Town has started buying bananas. Bananas will be then exported to China. In October, she exported 10 tonnes of bananas to China.
