Giang A Linh, 36, has been in love with Hang Thi Song, 80, for the past 6 years. Those who know of their story support them but they fail understand why how it could happen. Some say Linh loves Song for her money.
When Linh and I were drinking together, Song came back after a working day on the road. As usual, she offered me some items to buy.
Then she turned to speak with Linh, “I miss you so much after a long day. I have enough money for our drinks. We can drink as much as we want. We won't go home until we get drunk.”
I couldn't believe what I had just heard. A wine lounge has become their chosen place for dates.
Song sat down on the chair and rested her wrinkled face against Linh’s chest as Linh wrapped his arms around her. I had to snap a photo of their romantic moment.
When I asked them about their story, they both were happy to share it with me. Song says that it's destiny.
One day, six years ago, they both came to the same wine lounge to avoid the rain. It was only them in that lounge and Linh reached out to Song, offering her to join him.
They talked and shared many things with each other that day. Linh was quite depressed as he had divorced twice. Song was miserable because her husband had died when she was still young. After talking to each other, they ended up spending the night together.
They continued to see each-other over and over. Eventually, they say they both realised that they cannot live without each other. Song’s heart was full of joy and happiness when Linh told her that he loves her, “I fell in love with him at the first sight but I did not dare to tell him because I am very old. I thought maybe he'd laugh at me. But when he said he loves me, I felt like I was in heaven.”
Since that day, they have met each other almost everyday at the same place and time.

Lich, owner of the home-stay where the couple often sleep, admires their love story and even fixed the window of their room into heart shape and offers them very cheap rates.
When Linh is busy and cannot come to see Song, she feels very sad and cannot sleep for the whole night, said Lich. Song often covers her body with Linh’s jacket at night during sleep.
One day, when Linh was drinking at Nga’s wine lounge, Song’s nephew came and told him that Song would not come to see him any more; she would live with her children. Linh felt shocked and desperate, then kept drinking day after day.
Several days later, Song came back to the wine lounge and Nga told her what happened. Song cried like hell and kept waiting for Linh for many days. When they saw each other, they rushed to embrace each other and never wanted to leave.
Linh says that people often teased and laughed at them in the beginning. However, after some time, they get bored and stop teasing them.
Now they live together happily and do not care what other people think about them.
I said goodbye to them but I still cannot explain how they could possibly love each other so much.
