>> Deputy minister goes to Japan to verify bribery case
>> JTC bribery allegations: three more officials suspendedIn the wake of bribery allegations against Japanese railway consultancy firm JTC, Transport Minister Dinh La Thang took the decision, on March 27, to set up an investigation team to look into the case.

Huyen said that his team will work with relevant individuals and organisations to gather evidence and verify information in connection with the Japan Transportation Consultants, Inc. (JTC)’s bribing of Vietnamese transport officials.
The Director General of the Vietnam Railway Corporation will be asked to make reports on management work of the Hanoi urban metro route No1 project (first phase) and provide a list of officials directly involved in the project.
The investigation will also require the management board of railway projects to make official statements on their bidding invitation and the result of bidding, as well as contracts and legal procedures relating to the project.
The move came after the Tokyo-based railway consultant firm JTC was reported to pay JPY80 million (about US$780,000) to win a US$41 million contract in Vietnam, funded by the Japanese Government's official development assistance (ODA).
