Over 14,200 flood-hit households in the central region of Vietnam have benefited from a six-month project funded by the European Commission Humanitarian Aid Office (ECHO) and the German Red Cross.

The EUR696,000 project, which kicked off in January this year, aimed to help victims of the twin floods in 2010 from six districts in Ha Tinh and Quang Binh provinces rehabilitate their livelihood.
Of the beneficiaries, 11,000 households were provided with 102 tonnes of unhusked rice and 482 tonnes of fertilisers; 2,944 received cash and 300 were granted breeding cows.
The project also supplied water filters for 4,000 families and installed 200 safe water containers in public establishments.
Other international organisations such as the French Red Cross and the Dutch Red Cross also participated in the project.
