An international conference on the legal status of islands in international law and the practices on the East Sea is being held in Nha Trang City from August 16 to 18.

The event is held by Pham Van Dong University and Nha Trang University. The conference will focus on the legal status of islands in international laws, disputes over the Spratly and Paracel islands as well as the rulings of the Philippines and China case.
About 100 academics from various countries with extensive knowledge about maritime laws and are interested in the East Sea disputes have attended the conference.
The organisers also hold an exhibition to show Vietnam's historical evidence for its sovereignty over the Spratly and Paracel islands at the Continental Hotel and Nha Trang Museum of Oceanography. Attendants can also visit Cam Ranh International Port on August 18.
Vietnam has held many conferences on the East Sea in the past year including the conference on Spratly and Paracel Islands' sovereignty, their historical and legal status in 2013, Quang Ngai Province and the truth about the history of Spratly and Paracel Islands in 2014 in Danang.
