According to the ministry's report, the 30-year-old Indian woman landed at Tan Son Nhat Airport in Ho Chi Minh City from Qatar on March 28. She was sent to a local quarantine area upon arrival and tested positive for SARS-CoV-2 the same day. The patient is now being treated at the Cu Chi Field Hospital for Covid-19 patients.
Two other new patients are Vietnamese women aged 43 and 19 who entered Vietnam through the Moc Bai International Border Gate in Tay Ninh Province on March 27. They were sent to a local quarantine area upon arrival and tested positive for SARS-CoV-2 on March 29. The two patients are now being treated at the Tay Ninh Provincial General Hospital.
With these new infection cases, the number of Covid-19 patients in Vietnam has increased to 2,594, including 914 locally-transmitted cases reported since the new outbreak started in Hai Duong on January 28. Hai Duong Province alone has recorded 726 cases.
As of 6 pm on March 29, a total of 2,308 Covid-19 patients had recovered and been discharged from hospital. There have been 35 deaths, most of them being the elderly with serious underlying diseases.At present, as many as 44.833 people who had close contact with Covid-19 patients or returned from virus-hit areas are being monitored at hospitals, quarantine facilities, and at home.
