Doan Nguyen Duc, CEO of Hoang Anh Gia Lai Group (HAGL Group) tops the list for having a combined income of nearly VND4.18 billion (USD197,963) in 2013. This means that he earned an average VND350 million (USD16,575) per month. Such an annual income is VND700 million (USD33,151) more than last year's figure.

HAGL Group’s annual report for 2013 showed that the company spent as nearly VND25 billion (USD1.18 million) on salaries and bonus payments to its leaders last year.

Duc’s role at the company is to invest in high-quality agriculture projects in Laos and Cambodia.

“I am satisfied with my income, but I don’t pay much attention to it. It's just symbolic,” he said.

Cao Thi Ngoc Dung, CEO of Phu Nhuan Jewelry Joint-Stock Company (PNJ) ranks second with a total income of VND2.1 billion (USD99,455) in 2013, including VND1.8 billion (USD85,247) in salary and VND325 million (USD15,391) in bonuses.

The CEO of Vinacafe, Bien Hoa Pham Quang Vu, earned VND1.38 billion in 2013 (USD65,356). There is a proposal on the table to increase his salary to VND1.8 billion (USD85,247) this year.

However, both numbers are less than his income for 2012, which reached VND2.5 billion (USD118,399), not including VND266 million (USD12,597) in dividends.

Vingroup (VIC) has recently announced salaries and bonuses for their high-end leaders in 2013. As a result, VIC CEO Pham Nhat Vuong was paid VND900 million (USD42,623) per year last year.
