
Phuoc Khanh Bridge and Binh Khanh Bridge form key sections of the nearly 58km Ben Luc - Long Thanh Expressway, a strategic transport corridor connecting southern economic hubs.

Phuoc Khanh Bridge, spanning the Long Tau River between Ho Chi Minh City and Dong Nai, is regarded as the final major bottleneck preventing the full operation of the expressway.

Around 200 engineers, technicians and workers are currently working around the clock to complete the remaining construction ahead of the scheduled opening.
The bridge is nearly 3.2km long and features a 300m main span supported by a twin-plane cable-stayed design. Its two towers rise 155m above the river, making it one of the tallest bridges in Vietnam.

Construction began in 2015 and was originally scheduled for completion in 2019. However, the project faced years of delays before entering its final stage.
The remaining work includes installing lighting systems, completing the bridge deck and laying asphalt surfacing.

According to the contractor, the project had reached approximately 96 per cent completion as of September 11.

About 8km away, Binh Khanh Bridge was substantially completed in late 2025 and is awaiting connection with Phuoc Khanh Bridge before the entire expressway can open.

Built at a cost of more than VND 2.8 trillion (USD 108 million), Binh Khanh Bridge crosses the Soai Rap River, linking Hiep Phuoc and Binh Khanh communes in HCM City.

The bridge stretches 2.76km, including a 763m main span. Like Phuoc Khanh Bridge, it features a twin-plane cable-stayed design and towers reaching 135m in height.
Binh Khanh Bridge has four traffic lanes and two emergency lanes, with a design speed of 80-100kph.


The Ben Luc - Long Thanh Expressway is expected to play a major role in improving connectivity between the Southeast and Mekong Delta regions. Once fully operational, the route will also provide an additional transport link to Long Thanh International Airport, helping ease congestion on the Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh Expressway.
