A tree is felled down in Cuc Phuong National Forest
The 22,000-hectare park which lies in three provinces of Ninh Binh, Hoa Binh and Thanh Hoa is home to a range of flora and fauna. Many species on the brink of extinction have been found in Vietnam's first national park.Local people in Thanh Hoa Province's Thach Thanh District have recently complained about increasing cases of wood poaching in Cuc Phuong.
Following instructions from local people, DTiNews reporters found a number of large trees being destroyed in the primary forest.
Most of the cut down trees had been taken away but many were still there. The trees being cut down were several or even hundreds metres away from one another. There were vehicle tracks that run deep into the forest.
Many trees were newly cut but in some areas the cutting took place long ago.
