A poor woman in the central province of Ha Tinh who is facing cancer is taking care of her son struggling with kidney failure.

A poor woman in the central province of Ha Tinh who is facing cancer is taking care of her son struggling with kidney failure.

Phan Thi Long, 70, from Loc Ha District’s Tan Loc Commune was diagnosed with cervical cancer in 2015. Her family had to sell all their valuables to cover the treatment. She continues to go to hospital as an outpatient.

Early this year, Phan Ngoc Duc, 22, was diagnosed with kidney failure. Now he comes to the hospital for dialysis every three weeks. According to doctors, a marrow transplant could give him a chance of recovery. However, surgery would cost VND1 billion which is beyond his family’s reach.

Duc’s parents depend on farming. His father works for construction sites to earn extra money.

Duc graduated from the IT major. He moved to Danang City to look for work, but the disease has made it difficult for him to find work.
