The Steering Committee for Disaster Prevention and Search and Rescue in Binh Dinh announced that the cold snap and eastern winds had caused heavy rains and floods in many areas, especially in Hoai An District.

Nguyen Huu Khuc, vice chairman of Hoai An District People's Committee, said on December 9, the road connecting Bong Son Town to Hoai An and An Lao districts had been submerged. Many other inter-communal roads are also under water and several embankments were damaged. A small bridge was destroyed and 36 pumping stations were flooded.

Nearly 1,200 houses in Hoai An were flooded and 320 households have been evacuated. 207 houses in An Lao District and 650 houses in An Nhon Commune were flooded. A total of 120 hectares of crops were destroyed and roads were badly damaged.

According to the Steering Committee for Disaster Prevention and Search and Rescue, the water levels in many rivers are still rising.

Many trains on the north-south route have been postponed as Danang Railway Station and rail tracks from Thua Thien-Hue to Quang Nam Province were submerged. On December 9 and 10, the water level in the rivers in Danang has been rising and may cause more floods and landslides.

Many motorbike drivers on Ha Huy Tap Street quickly saw their engines flooded, forcing them to wade through the water.
