Authorities of the central province of Thua Thien-Hue have approved a plan to organise the Hue Festival 2022 across the entire year, instead of just several days as before.
This morning, on January 1, a ceremony was held at the Imperial City in Hue City to announce the programme for Hue Festival 2022.
Unlike the festival in previous years, this year, the event will be held throughout the year with various activities.
The Spring Festival will take place from January and March with activities, including Calendar Books Distribution Ritual (or Lễ Ban Sóc in Vietnamese, a ceremony to plant Neu (a tall bamboo pole with red garment strips used to ward off evil spirits during the Lunar New Year), Hue Poem Contest and a food festival slated to be held in March.
The Summer Festival between April and June will feature a long dress performance, a street festival and a music show about songs of late famous Musician Trinh Cong Son.
The Autumn Festival in July-September will include a boat race on Huong River and a lantern festival.
The Winter Festival during the October-December period will see a music show and a Countdown programme to welcome the New Year 2023.
Hue Festival, which was first organised in 2022, is held every two years. In 2020, the event was cancelled due to Covid-19.
