Streets such as Truong Chinh, Kim Ma, Thai Ha, Kham Thien, Ba Trieu and Ly Thuong Kiet were seriously submerged after the rain which lasted more than one hour, causing long traffic jams.
According to the National Centre for Hydro-meteorological Forecasting, the northern region, including Hanoi, will continue facing heavy rains with thunderstorms on June 13-15.
Flooding is forecast to occur in Lo and Thao rivers on June 14-17. The water level on Red River and Gam River are also expected to rise sharply.
