According to the Ministry of Health, Vietnam has to date has recorded 25 Omicron-infected patients who are all imported cases and have been timely quarantined. The patients from five countries entered Vietnam through nine flights.

The Covid-19 testing in Vietnam
Under the Ministry of Health’s instructions, cities and provinces nationwide need to closely monitor arrivals to Vietnam to timely detect the new variant Omicron transmission. They are also asked to raise local medical facility capacity in response to the Omicron infection.
Community Covid-19 task forces and mobile medical stations need to early detect Covid-19 cases for quarantine and treatment.
In cases where detecting Omicron, localities have to quickly conduct epidemic investigations to ensure quarantining.
The Ministry of Health has instructed cities and provinces to speed up the Covid-19 vaccination for people aged from 12. People aged 50 and over and those with underlying medical conditions are prioritised for the vaccination to reduce the death rate.
The inspection of Covid-19 prevention activities at industrial parks, schools and public places such as stations, supermarkets and airports needs to be enhanced.
