The Ethnic History and Culture Park
The management board of the Ethnic History and Culture Park will collaborate with other parties to review and adjust the 1/2000 planning of the ancient area in the park. The Department of Culture and Sports will hire consultants to research and set up a detailed plan to build the city museum.
During this time, the city people's committee has agreed to repair and upgrade the existing HCM City Museum in District 1.
In 2007, HCM City People's Committee agreed with the plan to build a city museum in Thu Thiem urban area. The supposed allocated land should be 30ha. However, in 2011, the allocated land for the project in Thu Thiem area was only 1.8ha.
The Department of Culture and Sports said that the land was too small and proposed to relocate the project to the Ethnic History and Culture Park.
The VND1.4trn (USD60m) project will be built from 2020 to 2025. There will be five main display areas about history, culture, and the social changes of HCM City since 17th century until now. It will also be a place to hold exhibitions on special occasions.
The outdoor exhibition area will be used for large items and creative place for students.
The Department of Culture and Sports suggested inviting foreign consultants since this is an important project.
