HCM City’s Department of Transport has issued the plan on measures to mitigate traffic jams.
HCM City to build 20 bridges to ease traffic jams
According to Tran Quang Lam, director of the department, in 2021, the transport sector would target construction of 20 bridges and 90 kilometres of road. The land rate for transport projects this year would be 12.76% of the city’s urban construction.
The city’s public transport this year is expected to ensure 10% of demand, equal to 638.41 million passengers.
The municipal transport sector also aims to cut the number of deaths and injuries due to traffic accidents by 5% against last year.
The city will focus on transport infrastructure development, prioritise means of public transport and apply sci-tech measures on traffic management.
