
HCM City proposes VND1trn Covid-19 relief packages
About 42,000 people who lost their jobs will be given VND3m (USD130) per person. 2,000 people whose contracts end but do not meet the requirements for unemployment benefits will be given VND2m per person. About 230,000 people who are freelancers like street vendors, scrap collectors or motorbike taxi drivers will be given VND1.5m per person. 23,000 teachers and staff at private education facilities will be given VND2m per person.
Pregnant women or those with children less than six months old will be given an additional VND1m (USD43).
In addition, the Department of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs have proposed to support VND90,000 (USD4) for each disadvantaged child at quarantine centres from April 27 to December 31. 3,000 family households who are affected by social distancing rules will be given VND2m each. Policy beneficiaries will be given VND500,000 per person per month for three months.
Poor and near-poor households will be given VND250,000 (USD11) per person per month for three months. As of May 31, HCM City has 111,136 people in poor and near-poor households.
People who are entitled to multiple financial supports will only be given the highest one.
