Over 30 kilos of drugs seized
The Customs Department of HCM City said they worked with the police and the anti-smuggling department of the General Department of Vietnam Customs on the case. The narcotics were sent to Vietnam from France under the cover of gifts. They would then be distributed to various provinces like Binh Duong and Dong Nai.
After discovering the smuggling ring, the authorities had set up a plan for two months and seized 10 packages on August 16. Inside the packages are 29kg of ecstasy and 1.4kg of ketamine which were disguised as chocolate and confectionery.
The investigation is being expanded.
Since the start of 2021, HCM City Customs Department has solved 50 drug smuggling cases and seized 150 kilos of narcotics.
