HCM City metro projects slowed due to Covid-19
After several outbreaks in Vietnam, the city authorities have implemented even stricter measures to monitor the workers. From May 2020 until now, the MAUR has worked with the contractors to speed up the progress. However, HR problems have affected the construction of elevated and depot sections as well as the underground section.
The contractors are completing the Ba Son Station. It is hoped that it will be finished by April 30. MAUR also asked the contractors to finish the CP1b package on an underground section running from HCM City Opera House to Ba Son Station in late May.
According to MAUR, some parts of the projects are complicated or specialised that require foreign experts so that the projects will meet the standards. Many experts were unable to visit Vietnam before or can't go to work as quickly as expected.
In regards to Ben Thanh-Tham Luong Metro Line, because of Covid-19, some parts of the contracts had to be negotiated online.
On March 16, Chairman of HCM City People's Committee Nguyen Thanh Phong visited Ben Thanh-Suoi Tien Metro Project's construction site.
He said, "I've asked the investors to set a deadline and based on this deadline, we'll find solutions to deal with the problems."
