MAUR said that the construction of some stations including the HCM City Opera House Station and Ba Son Station will be completed this September. In addition, the underground line from Ben Thanh Station to HCM City Opera House Station as well as the elevated section and depot will be finished in October. Some other work will be completed by December. The whole line will be put into trial operation in September and then will commercially start in December.
The first metro line project connecting Ben Thanh and Suoi Tien in HCM City has a total investment of VND47 trillion. The line runs 19.70 kilometres through 11 stations and has 17.10 kilometres of elevated section and 2.60 kilometres underground.
Work on the project started in August 2012 and was scheduled to be completed in 2018. The project had to be delayed several times due to multiple bottlenecks as well as the Covid-19 pandemic and the late signing of an appendix of the consultancy contract.
