HCM City hosts the longest stretch of the Ring Road 4.

According to the HCM City People's Committee, the Ring Road 4 project will span 207 km across HCM City, Dong Nai and Tay Ninh.

A 47-km section in what is now HCM City, previously part of Binh Duong, began construction in June this year.

The remaining segments, with a total length of around 160 km and investment capital of VND 120.4 trillion, were approved by the National Assembly in June 2025.

HCM City hosts the longest stretch of the route, covering nearly 83 km.

In phase one, the project will be built to a scale of four expressway lanes, while land clearance will be carried out for eight lanes.

HCM City and the neighbouring provinces aim to hand over at least 70 per cent of the site by April 2026 and complete all land clearance within 2026.

The entire HCM City section of Ring Road 4 is scheduled to break ground on September 2, 2026, be completed in the second quarter of 2028 and open to traffic later the same year.

Once operational, the ring road will form a strategic corridor linking Southeast, the Mekong Delta and the Central Highlands regions, improving the flow of goods between industrial zones, urban centres and ports.

It will also enhance connectivity with Long Thanh Airport and major international ports, unlocking new development space, boosting land value and supporting industrial, logistics and urban growth across the region.

Crucially, the project will help divert traffic from National Highways 13 and 22 toward ports in Tay Ninh and Hiep Phuoc in HCM City, easing chronic congestion in the inner city and major gateways.

The project is considered a major milestone in regional transport development, significantly strengthening infrastructure connectivity for HCM City and the broader Southeast region.
