Long Kieng Bridge in HCM City's outlying district of Nha Be was put into use on September 8.
The 318-metre-long, 15-metre-wide bridge project was built with a total investment of VND589 billion (USD24.30 million), sourced from the city’s budget.
Speaking at the bridge inauguration ceremony, Luong Minh Phuc, director of the Transportation Works Construction Investment Project Management Authority of HCM City expressed happiness that the bridge had finally been completed.
"Due to problems in site clearance, work on the project did not start until August 2018," he said. "It was scheduled for completion at the end of November 2019. However, site clearance bottlenecks again slowed progress."

Attending the ceremony, the chairwoman of the HCM City People's Council, Nguyen Thi Le, said that the opening of the new Long Kieng Bridge was a dream come true for local residents after nearly 23 years of waiting.
"The new bridge will help revitalise the area and facilitate travel between Nha Be District and districts 1, 7 and surrounding areas of Nha Be District," she said. "Many local residents are excited to have the new bridge."
