At a press conference this morning, August 16, Duong Anh Duc, vice chairman of the city people’s committee, said that the city is making efforts to protect and expand green zones without Covid-19 infections.

From now to September 15, the city’s Covid-19 fight will be divided into three phases. The first, which is on August 15-22, will focuses on reducing Covid-19 death rate. The second phase from August 23 to August 31 is aimed to expand more green zones and contain the pandemic in seven districts of Can Gio, Cu Chi, Nha Be, Phu Nhuan, 5, 7 and 11.
Meanwhile, in the third phase on September 1-15, the city is expected to bring the number of Covid-19 patients to below 2,000 cases per day.
The local health sector will try to ensure that all Covid-19 patients with worsened conditions will be received for the treatment.
The city has been implementing the prime minister’s directive on social distancing rules since July 9 and the rules have been continued to be extended to contain the spread of the virus.
On August 15, the municipal people's committee decided to extend the application of social distancing measures until September 15.
