Nguyen Quoc Chanh, Director of Quoc Chanh Co., Ltd., the route’s investor, said that one more ferry has been added to the fleet, raising the total to five in operation. Each vessel can accommodate 200-300 passengers, 20-40 cars, and up to 100 motorbikes.

The firm is also building a larger ferry, measuring 47 metres long and 12 metres wide, with a capacity of 300 passengers, 40 cars, and over 100 motorbikes. The new vessel is expected to enter service in early 2026.
According to the company, since Ba Ria-Vung Tau was merged into HCM City, travel between Vung Tau Ward, Can Gio, and the city centre has increased significantly. Beyond tourism, the route has become a popular daily commute option for many residents.
Launched in early 2021, the Can Gio-Vung Tau sea ferry is HCM City’s first privately funded route. Covering 15 kilometres from Tac Suat Wharf (Can Gio) to Vung Tau City, it shortens travel time from 3.5 hours by road to just 30 minutes.
The ferry runs daily from 6 am to 10 pm with a base fare of VND 70,000 per passenger. Vehicle fees vary: VND 50,000 for bicycles and motorbikes, VND 350,000 for cars and pickups, VND 450,000-800,000 for larger passenger vehicles, and VND 400,000-1 million for trucks, depending on size.
