Many people visit the centre several times, but still fail to wait for their turn because of overcrowding

According to a representative from the centre, the number of unemployment insurance applications was higher than previous years in the second quarter, due to the pandemic.

Between June 1 and 9, the centre served 3,600 unemployment benefit receivers.

People can also register to work with the centre through a mobile phone application.

The General Statistics Office of Vietnam reported that an estimated five million workers and nearly 85% of local companies had been badly impacted by the Covid-19 pandemic in the first three months of this year.

The first quarter saw the total unemployment reach 1.1 million, a rise of 26,000 or 2.2% year-on-year.
