
The Covid-19 pandemic has severely affected Vietnamese enterprises with many being suspended or scaled back.

Over the recent weeks, the Hanoi Employment Services Centre have received hundreds of people who come to complete unemployment benefit applications every day.

Many people visit the centre several times, but still fail to wait for their turn because of overcrowding
According to a representative from the centre, the number of unemployment insurance applications was higher than previous years in the second quarter, due to the pandemic.
Between June 1 and 9, the centre served 3,600 unemployment benefit receivers.
People can also register to work with the centre through a mobile phone application.
The General Statistics Office of Vietnam reported that an estimated five million workers and nearly 85% of local companies had been badly impacted by the Covid-19 pandemic in the first three months of this year.
The first quarter saw the total unemployment reach 1.1 million, a rise of 26,000 or 2.2% year-on-year.
