Hanoi unveils fireworks plan for Lunar New Year

The city is holding 23 fireworks performances on the Lunar New Year's Eve.

The Hanoi People's Committee has approved a VND 5 billion ($270,000) plan to hold 23 fireworks performances around the city on the Lunar New Year's Eve, which will fall on February 13th this year.

According to the city's plan, high-altitude fireworks shows will be performed at 5 major locales, while the other 18 shows will feature lower altitude fireworks. 7 low-altitude firework show locales have been added to outer districts, in comparison to only 11 shows during last year's Lunar New Year's Eve.

All shows will start simultaneously at 0:00 and last for 15 minutes. The 23 venues have been carefully selected based on their locations and proper geographic distances between them. In order to maximise viewing opportunities for people. Major tourist spots in the inner city will feature fireworks, including 2 shows by Hoan Kiem Lake, one by West Lake, one in Thong Nhat Park and one by Ngoc Khanh Lake.
