Site clearance on O Cho Dua-Hoang Cau road section to be quickened

The O Cho Dua-Hoang Cau road route was approved in 2008 with a total investment of VND642 billion (USD30.5 million), including VND527 billion (USD25 million) for site clearance compensation. The city targeted to finish the road section in late 2001, however, stagnant site clearance slowed the process.

Only 20% of the planned clearance work has been completed to date.

According to the People’s Committee of Dong Da District, the site clearance compensation for the 547-metre road section had been raised to VND743.5 billion (USD35.3 million) from the previous VND527 billion approved in 2008, becoming the most expensive in the world.

The O Cho Dua-Hoang Cau road route is part of the city’s Belt Road No. 1 project. The road route is expected to ease traffic jams at the junction of Xa Dan and Kim Lien streets.

Hanoi will also build the 2.2 kilometre Hoang Cau-Voi Phuc section of Belt Road No. 1. The road will cost VND6 trillion (USD285.7 million) and is slated to be kicked off in the second quarter of 2015 and completed in the fourth quarter of 2018.
