
Workers are now completing the remaining works of the bridge such as painting and installing lighting systems and other works in preparation for its inauguration prior to National Day on September 2.
Designed with four lanes running 3.50 km, including two bus lanes, this is the first bridge in Hanoi with a dedicated bus lane.
Vinh Tuy Bridge 2, cost VND2.50 trillion sourced from the city’s budget, and is intended to complete Ring Road 2 and ease links across the river, as well as connect the city centre with the city’s north and northeast.
Once completed, the new bridge is expected to create favourable conditions for the socio-economic development of the capital, remove traffic jams on Ring Road 2, and reduce vehicles on Thanh Tri Bridge and Ring Road 3.
Vinh Tuy Bridge 1, which spans 5.80 km, opened to traffic in 2010 as one of the major construction projects to celebrate the 1,000th anniversary of Thang Long-Hanoi.
Hanoi has plans for 10 more bridges spanning the Red River by 2030.
