According to the municipal Department of Transport, the department will ban vehicles on the whole Hang Luoc and Hang Ruoi streets and part of Hang Khoai, Hang Ma and Phung Hung streets in Hang Ma Ward between January 17-31.

However, people who live on the affected streets will be allowed by local authorities for their travel.

Parking lots have been requested to order. At least 1.5 metres of pavements have to be used for pedestrians.

Hang Luoc Flower Market opens once a year and has been a major attraction in Hanoi for more than a century. It usually runs from Lunar December 15 to 30.

The capital has planned to organise flower markets at 78 locations across all districts in order to meet demands for shopping and entertainment in the buildup to the Lunar New Year.

The flower markets have to ensure they meet requirements for Covid-19 prevention and control, security and order, traffic safety, fire prevention, and environmental sanitation.
