
The power company inaugurated a green classroom at the Hanoi -Amsterdam High School on the occasion, implementing a new environmental protection model applied in many countries.
It will alter the lighting system of 19 classrooms by Led Panel lights which are estimated to save 71.7% of the electrical energy required by the previous system.
On March 22, the city will launch the 2015 Earth Hour campaign by turning off decorative lighting and neon advertising boards from 8:30 pm to 21:30 pm at several public landmark venues, such as the Ngoc Son temple, Ly Thai To flower garden, Hanoi Opera House, and Truc Bach Lake.
In 2014, Hanoi saved 234 megawatt hours of electricity thanks to its efforts to raise public response to the drive.
