"The number of new Covid-19 patients in Hanoi would be higher in the coming time due to outbreaks in some districts,” said Khong Minh Tuan, Deputy Director of the Hanoi Centre for Disease Control.
At present, Hanoi has 12 Covid-19 outbreaks. Bach Tru and Tien Thang communes in Quoc Oai District have up to 200 cases in total. Phu Do Ward in Nam Tu Liem District has become the latest Covid-19 epicentre in the city.
"The pandemic has remained complicated and unpredictable. We have continued to tighten Covid-19 prevention regulations,” Tuan said. He added that areas that have Covid-19 cases will be zoned. The city will not apply social distancing measures again.
He also rejected reports that Covid-19 cases (F0) without any symptoms and F1 cases that have close contact could be allowed to home-quarantine. Only when Covid-19 cases are beyond the city’s capacity, would F0 and F1 individuals be quarantined at home.
Since late April, Hanoi has reported 5,466 Covid-19 cases, including 2,156 locally-infected patients.
