Lao Cai experienced hail on March 17
Speaking with Dantri on the evening of March 17, Chairman of the district People's Committee, Nguyen Van Minh, said that the hailstones started to rain down at around 7pm in two communes and a town in the district.

"The rain which lasted for some 10 minutes destroyed roofs and lots of crops," he said.

Vice-chairman of the neighbouring province of Lai Chau, Giang A Tinh, told Dantri on Wednesday morning that lighter hail also poured down in the province on Tuesday night, damaging crops.
According to the National Centre for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, the hailstones occurred as a result of a cold snap moving from the north and would also bring rains and cold weather to the northern and northern central regions on March 18.
