Eight hand grenades and hundreds of unexploded bullets are discovered in a civilian garden in Quang Tri Province.

PeaceTrees Vietnam announced on July 16 that its Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) mobile team had safely handled eight hand grenades and hundreds of unexploded bullets discovered in a garden in Quang Tri Province.

Tran Van Phu, a resident of Khe Sanh Commune in Quang Tri, unexpectedly found several objects suspected to be leftover explosives and ammunition from the American War while digging holes to plant trees in his yard.

Phu immediately halted his work and called the hotline of the Quang Tri Mine Action Centre to request assistance.

Upon receiving the alert, EOD Team 1 from PeaceTrees Vietnam were dispatched to the scene. The team cordoned off the area for safety and conducted a sweep of the site, suspected to contain explosive remnants.

The search revealed a total of 361 unexploded 7.62mm rounds and eight M33 grenades with broken fuses. According to technical assessments, the munitions remained potentially lethal but were deemed safe for transport.

All ordnance was collected and moved to a secure storage facility, where it will be destroyed by technical safety protocols.
