Police in Thuan Nam District, located in the central province of Ninh Thuan, arrested a ring who have been accused of illegally selling grave plots.
The ring of seven people operated out of Son Hai Village, Phuoc Dinh Commune. They allegedly exhumed around ten graves, moving the human remains to other locations, in order to sell the plots to a project called Titan.
According to the investigation, Dung, one of the ringleaders, hired six people, including his father-in-law, to do the work. The exact locations of the missing remains unknown.
After his arrest Dung confessed, and said that the remains were taken to a number of locations, including the Gieng Tray area, Bau Ngu Village and Phuoc Dinh Commune. The case, which has caused public outrage, is is subject to an on-going investigation.
