
Retail fuel prices in Vietnam fall for a third consecutive adjustment on December 25
Under the latest price review, jointly announced by the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Industry and Trade and effective from 3 pm on Thursday, E5 RON 92 petrol was cut by VND 520 to VND 18,710 per litre, while RON 95 fell by VND 620 to VND 19,000 per litre.
Diesel prices were reduced by VND 220 to VND 17,250 per litre, kerosene dropped by VND 230 to VND 17,700 per litre, while mazut rose by VND 220 to VND 13,380 per kilogramme.
The price stabilisation fund was neither used nor replenished in this adjustment.
The move marked the third consecutive cut following a single increase. Since the start of the year, RON 95 prices have risen 27 times and fallen 26 times, while diesel has recorded 24 increases, 27 decreases and one unchanged adjustment.
The fuel price stabilisation fund held by major distributors remains in surplus, having not been used in recent pricing cycles. As of the end of the second quarter, the fund balance stood at more than VND 5.6 trillion (about USD 212.6 million), with Vietnam National Petroleum Group, or Petrolimex, accounting for roughly half at VND 3.08 trillion (about USD 117 million).
