
A resident area in Ho Chi Minh City has been blocked for Covid-19 prevention since December 1.
According to the ministry's report, the two new patients include a one-year-old boy and a 28-year-old woman who both reside in Ho Chi Minh City's District 6. They had close contact with the English teacher who was confirmed as Covid-19 patient on November 30.
The baby boy is now being treated at the Ho Chi Minh City Children's Hospital while the woman at the Cu Chi Field Hospital for Covid-19 patients.
The same day, two men aged 47 and 57 who returned from Canada on November 16 and were being quarantined in Hai Duong Province were also confirmed as new Covid-19 patients.
They are now being treated at the Hai Duong Provincial Hospital for Tropical Diseases.
With these new infection cases, the number of imported Covid-19 patients in Vietnam has increased to 657.
As of 6 pm on December 1, a total of 1,195 Covid-19 patients had recovered and been discharged from hospital. There have been 35 deaths, most of them being the elderly with serious underlying diseases.
At present, 16,756 people who had close contact with Covid-19 patients or returned from virus-hit areas are being monitored at hospitals, quarantine facilities, and at home.
