At present, around 10,000 tonnes of fresh cassava and a large area of bananas jointly planted on either side of the border has not yet been harvested. So the resumption will help to boost trade.
The four border gates have been shut since February because of the Covid-19 outbreak.
Vietnam and Laos share a border of 2,337km that runs across 10 Lao and Vietnamese provinces.
