Flyovers to be built at Tan Son Nhat Airport area

HCM City’s Transport Department will start construction on two flyovers near Tan Son Nhat International Airport to help ease traffic congestion in the area.

HCM City’s Transport Department will start construction on two flyovers near Tan Son Nhat International Airport on February 8 to help ease traffic congestion in the area.

The two projects will have a total investment capital of VND746 billion (USD33.9 million).

The first Y-shaped flyover at Truong Son crossroad will be linked to both domestic and international terminals of the airport.

The second N-shaped flyover at Nguyen Kiem-Nguyen Thai Son area will cost VND504 billion.

The Ministry of Transport has also agreed on HCM City’s proposal to build an elevated road to help ease traffic congestion for Tan Son Nhat International Airport.

The road, which will cost VND2.6 trillion (USD123 million) will take 18 months to build. Starting at Terminal 2 it will run along Phan Thuc Duyet and end at Hoang Van Thu Street.

Tan Son Nhat Airport welcomed over 32 million passengers in 2016 and the number could reach 40 million in 2017 compared the airport’s design capacity of only 25 million people per annum.
