Flyover to Noi Bai International airport opens to traffic

The Hanoi Department of Transportation launched the flyover linking Dong Anh district’s Nam Hong road and Thang Long road to Noi Bai International Airport on December 29.

The Hanoi Department of Transportation launched the flyover linking Dong Anh district’s Nam Hong road and Thang Long road to Noi Bai International Airport in a ceremony on December 29.

The 200.7m long and 12m wide steel beam flyover was the fifth in Hanoi to enter operation this year.

Beginning construction on April 6 with a total capitalisation of VND305.8 billion, the infrastructure was designed to ease the capital city’s traffic congestion.

Nguyen The Thao, Chairman of the Hanoi Municipal People’s Committee, praised the contractors for finishing the flyover on the 40th anniversary of the Hanoi-Dien Bien Phu air victory and two days before the end of the 2012 Traffic Safety Year.

He stressed the completion of these flyovers ahead of schedule will dramatically reduce traffic accidents and congestion, actively contributing to the capital’s socio-economic development.

The Department of Transportation is now busy preparing for the construction of  two other flyovers—over the Tran Khat Chan-Pho Hue and Daewoo junctions—beginning during the Lunar New Year Festival.
