Many areas in Hoa Binh are flooded due to heavy rain on July 16
By midday on July 16, around 160 hectares of rice and vegetables in Tan Lac District were flooded and damaged, while many livestock farms were utterly ruined.
The flooding and heavy rain have left many roads eroded and submerged. Most fords along Road 436 are deep underwater, preventing vehicles from passing.
On Tuesday, Mai Chau District experienced a rainfall of 98.3 mm. Due to flooding, the locality is estimated to have suffered losses of VND300 million (USD11,787).
Specifically, heavy rain caused about 40 cubic metres of water to slide into two houses, damaging two cars and a wall. Many roads in Mai Chau District, including Mo Luong and Na Phat-Nang-Na Luat roads, have experienced landslides following rain.
The inundation has occurred in Kim Boi and Lac Son districts.
On Tuesday afternoon, a nine-year-old boy in Kim Boi District was swept away by the flooding while accompanied by his father. Some hours later, he was found dead.
Meanwhile, a 62-year-old man in Mai Chau District’s Na Phon Commune was struck by lightning while working on the field. Despite being quickly taken to a local hospital, he died.
