The annual week-long market is held to meet the rising demand for fresh flowers ahead of the Tet Lunar New Year holiday.

This year's market is being held at a larger scale with nearly 100 boats selling flowers that have come from famous flower hubs in the Mekong Delta region including Dong Thap, Vinh Long, and Ben Tre provinces.

Bridge 7 which is only open to pedestrians has been beautifully decorated with many kinds of colourful flowers and lights.

Along with flowers and ornamental plants, visitors can also enjoy some performances of art and don ca tai tu southern amateur singing, decorative art and calligraphy.

Many kinds of traditional foods are also introduced at the market.

Speaking at the event, the Vice Chairwoman of the District 8 People’s Committee, Nguyen Thi Thu Hoa, said that this year's market gathered more than 687 sellers from well-known flower-producing areas.
"After 10 years, the market has become one of the most attractive tourist destinations of the district and the city as a whole in spring," she said.
