Flights transporting Covid-19 vaccines to be prioritised

The Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam has requested the Vietnam Air Traffic Management Corporation, the Airports Corporation of Vietnam and airlines to give priority to flights which transport Covid-19 vaccines.

The Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam (CAAV) has requested the Vietnam Air Traffic Management Corporation (VATM), the Airports Corporation of Vietnam (ACV) and airlines to give priority to flights which transport Covid-19 vaccines.

Following the Vietnamese government’s policy to expedite Covid-19 vaccine imports, more Covid-19 vaccine flights are expected to arrive and transit in Vietnam in the coming time.

According to the CAAV, flight operators need to clearly mention the purpose when they seek permission to fly and inform air traffic controllers so that they can recognise the flights to give them first priority for landing. It is also necessary for the flight crew to fill in documentation so that air traffic control units can identify the Covid-19 flights.

The ACV is asked for preparing the most favourable conditions for flights to land, which is aimed to help shorten the vaccine transportation time as well as ensure the vaccine quality.

The priority is applied from June 3 until further notice.

Vietnam is expected to receive 150-170 million doses of Covid-19 vaccine this year. Recently national flag carrier Vietnam Airlines offered several units free vaccine transportation services between Hanoi, HCM City, Nha Trang and Buon Ma Thuot.
