The flash flood suddenly occurred at Muong Hoa Stream in Sapa Town. As a result, Cat Cat eco-tourist site under the foot of Hoang Lien Mountain was seriously damaged.
Nguyen Trung Kien, deputy director of the tourist site, said that Sapa Town faced torrential rains between the evening of July 14 and the early morning of the next day.
Three bridges over Muong Hoa Stream, five water wheels and some rose flowers beds along with many entertainment facilities at the tourist site were swept away.
Kien added that the losses had not yet been defined, but it would be in the billions of VND.

On July 14-15, many other areas in Lao Cai such as O Quy Ho, Cam Duong, Ta Cu Ty experienced heavy rains. Around 15 local houses were submerged.
